Roles & Responsibilities
Requirements to Apply
A Drama and Dance teacher plays a crucial role in nurturing students' creativity and expression through the performing arts. Their primary responsibility is to design and implement engaging lesson plans that introduce students to various aspects of drama and dance, including acting techniques, choreography, stage presence, and performance theory. By fostering a supportive environment, these teachers encourage students to explore their artistic potential, develop self-confidence, and gain an appreciation for the performing arts. They also guide students in mastering the technical skills required for performance, such as voice modulation, body movement, and spatial awareness.
In addition to teaching, Drama and Dance teachers are responsible for organising and directing school productions, performances, and recitals. This includes selecting appropriate material, casting roles, choreographing routines, and overseeing all aspects of the production process, from rehearsals to final performances. They work closely with other staff members, such as music and art teachers, to ensure a cohesive and polished presentation. By involving students in these productions, Drama and Dance teachers provide them with valuable experience in teamwork, time management, and problem-solving, all of which are essential skills both on and off the stage.
Beyond the classroom and stage, Drama and Dance teachers play an essential role in evaluating student progress and providing constructive feedback. They assess students' performance abilities, creativity, and effort through a variety of assessments, including practical exams, written assignments, and live performances. These teachers also tailor their feedback to meet individual students' needs, offering additional support and encouragement where necessary. Additionally, they may participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with new teaching methodologies, trends in performing arts, and curriculum developments, ensuring that their students receive the most up-to-date and comprehensive education possible.
