ECA Coaches

Roles & Responsibilities

Requirements to Apply

ECA (Extra-Curricular Activity) coaches play a vital role in nurturing young athletes by providing specialised training and instilling a passion for sports. For football, tennis, and swimming coaches, their responsibilities extend beyond teaching technical skills; they act as mentors who guide students in developing discipline, teamwork, and a positive attitude towards sports. Each coach must tailor their approach to meet the specific demands of their sport, ensuring that students not only enhance their athletic abilities but also grow as individuals.

Football Coach Responsibilities:
A football coach is responsible for developing players’ technical skills, tactical understanding, and physical fitness. This involves planning and executing training sessions that focus on key aspects such as passing, dribbling, shooting, and defending. The coach also plays a crucial role in teaching game strategy, helping players understand different formations, positioning, and how to make quick decisions under pressure. Beyond the technical elements, football coaches are tasked with fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership among their players, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment where every player feels valued and motivated.

Tennis Coach Responsibilities:
A tennis coach is responsible for refining a player’s technical skills, including serving, volleying, and footwork, while also developing their mental toughness and strategic thinking. Coaches design personalised training programmes that cater to each player’s strengths and areas for improvement, whether they are beginners or advanced players. They focus on match preparation, teaching players how to analyse opponents, manage in-game stress, and execute game plans effectively. Additionally, tennis coaches emphasise the importance of sportsmanship, encouraging players to maintain a positive attitude and respect for their opponents, both in victory and defeat.

Swimming Coach Responsibilities:
A swimming coach’s primary responsibility is to improve swimmers’ technique, endurance, and speed across various strokes, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. They create structured training programmes that balance technique drills with endurance workouts and race simulations, tailored to the swimmer’s skill level and goals. Swimming coaches also focus on building the swimmer’s mental resilience, helping them develop the focus and confidence needed to perform under pressure in competitive environments. Furthermore, swimming coaches ensure that swimmers understand the importance of safety in the water, proper warm-up and cool-down techniques, and injury prevention practices.
