The typical requirements for a Maths Teacher may include:

  1. Educational Qualification: A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, or a closely related field is typically required. Some schools may also prefer or require a master’s degree in a relevant subject.. Advanced degrees, such as a Master’s or PhD in Maths or Education, may be preferred for senior positions.

  2. Teaching Certification: An internationally recognized teaching certification, such as a PGCE, Teaching Licence, or a relevant teaching qualification from the home country, in maths is often required.

  3. Subject Matter Expertise: Strong knowledge of mathematics at the required teaching level (primary, secondary, or further education) is essential.

  4. Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience, particularly in mathematics, is commonly expected. Experience in international schools is a plus. For some schools, strong NQT's/ECT's are considered.

  5. Cultural Awareness: An understanding of and respect for the cultural norms and values of the Middle East is important for effective teaching and communication within the community.

  6. Classroom Management: Strong skills in managing classroom behaviour, maintaining discipline, and creating a positive and productive learning environment.

  7. Adaptability: The ability to adapt to different curricula, teaching methods, and educational standards that may vary from those in other regions.

  8. Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in Maths education and teaching methodologies.

  9. Background Check: Ability to pass a background check, as required by the educational institution.

Salary Package & Benefits

A typical salary package for a Maths Teacher:
 

  1. Monthly Salary: Typically ranges from 9,000 AED to 16,000 AED TAX FREE ($2,500 to $5,000 USD), depending on the country, type of school (e.g., private, international), and the teacher’s experience and qualifications.

  2. Housing/Housing Allowance: Often provided, ranging from $500 to $1,500 USD per month. Some schools offer fully furnished accommodation as part of the package.

  3. Visa: Working visa and residency visa provided for the teacher,  Sometimes this is extended for the spouse and children.

  4. Transportation Allowance: Monthly transportation allowances or school-provided transport, typically between $200 and $500 USD per month.

  5. Health Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance coverage, including medical, dental, and vision care, often extended to immediate family members.

  6. Relocation Allowance: A one-time relocation allowance may be offered to cover the cost of moving or a flight  to the Middle East.

  7. Annual Leave: Paid annual leave of approximately 30 days, in addition to national and religious holidays observed in the region.

  8. Airfare: Annual round-trip airfare to the teacher’s home country, often including coverage for family members, as part of the relocation benefits.

  9. End-of-Service Gratuity: A lump sum payment at the end of the contract term, calculated based on the length of service, in accordance with local labour laws.

  10. Professional Development: Funding and opportunities for attending workshops, conferences, and other professional development activities relevant to maths education.

  11. Paid Holidays: Generous paid holidays, including national holidays, winter break, and summer vacation

  12. Contract Duration: Contracts generally,  span 1-2 years, with potential for renewal based on performance and mutual agreement.

  13. Work Hours: Standard school hours 8am to 3pm, with additional time expected for lesson planning, grading, and extracurricular involvement.
